I am a huge proponent of being a lifelong learner. I am constantly reading/listening to something new, both fiction and nonfiction. Mindset Matters

Mindset starts with what you put in your brain.
 
 
Have you ever had a day where you just couldn’t get a grip on your thoughts? Your thoughts are just spinning and spinning, spiraling downward fast, and it leaves you feeling down, defeated, anxious. And you…you feel powerless to defeat it.
 
This is my mind, every single day. My thoughts are frequently an anxious jumble of what-ifs and worst-case scenarios. It makes it difficult to focus, causes sleep difficulties, and makes life super stressful.
 
Over the last couple of years, I have learned ways to take back my mind and fight the crazy, spiraling, negative thoughts that creep in daily. And don’t get me wrong, it is a DAILY battle, but I have some peace knowing that I can defeat the negative spiral. How did I learn how to do this? Well, keep reading, because I am going to give you a tool.
 
A few years ago, I found a book by Jennie Allen “Get Out Of Your Head”. This book, which I highly recommend you read, study, and implement in your life, helped me take back my mind.
 
The book teaches techniques in the book teach you to stop negative thoughts in their tracks and focus on the truth. One of these techniques include telling yourself that you have the ability to choose your thoughts. For example, you have the spiraling negative thought “I’m not good enough”, then you combat it with “I choose to believe that I am a child of God and with God I am enough.”
 
Now, I am a Christian, and I choose to believe what the Bible says, which has the most amazing advice/wisdom on taking your thoughts captive. Just listen to what the Apostle Paul says in his letter to the Philippians.  
 
Philippians 4:6-9
 
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
 
True, Noble, Right, Pure, Lovely, Admirable, Excellent, Praiseworthy. If you fill your mind with these things, you can crowd out the negative.
